Jellyfish are unpredictable. They float along with the currents of the sea, hiding their dangerousness, but like thieves, they can stun their viewers. Jellyfish lifts these mysterious creatures from the currents of the sea to float on the banks of the Aura River, under the night sky.

Jellyfish consists of five giant light sculptures depicting jellyfish. The colour-changing jellyfish create an illusion of a dance of light piercing the air with their flowing movements. It invites reflection on the hypnotic pull of the jellyfish’s movement and the magnetic energy of the sea. How do the jellyfish in the work convey beauty, grace and fragility, yet remain as unpredictable as the sea itself?

Paradedesign is a French creative agency founded by artist Ghislaine Coudert in 1999. Paradedesign’s work combines the interaction between design and cultural heritage. This artistic work is characterised by experimentation and site-specificity, offering a new way of interpreting the environments in which the works are displayed. Courdert’s light installations reflect her interest in the nature and use of flexible and air-filled materials. Paradedesign has created numerous light installations for various international light art events.
