Between 1901 and 2024, the Nobel Prize has been awarded to over a thousand recipients. Of all the notable prize winners, artist Aleksandra Stratimirović wanted to highlight the voice of one recipient in her work Hope. The artwork Hope is a quote from the end of Malala Yousafzai’s acceptance speech. For Stratimirović, these words carry a universal message – a voice from heart to heart – expressing people’s shared longing for justice, peace and hope.

Malala Yousafzai has become a symbol of the defence of children’s rights in public debate. Malala Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of just 17, making her the youngest person ever to receive the award. Yousafzai received the prize, together with Kailash Satyarthi, for their “struggle against the oppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education”.

Aleksandra Stratimirović is an award-winning light artist based in Stockholm, whose artistic work is guided by her strong knowledge and understanding of various lighting technologies. She has created numerous light installations in Sweden and internationally. Stratimirović is also a founding member of the Lighting Guerrilla Festival in Ljubljana and has served as both artistic director and speaker at various international events.
