Flea Circus
Studio Toer

  • Location: Porthan Park
  • Time: 3–6 December 2026, 4–10 pm

Art becomes play as a flickering flea circus takes over Porthan Park!

Studio Toer’s Flea Circus lights up Porthan Park. Unpredictable movements captivate visitors as neon-coloured points of light bounce out of their hiding places. The air is filled with light, magic – and plenty of fleas!

Flea Circus pays tribute to the historic flea circuses that captivated audiences across Europe, particularly in the 19th century. Like its predecessors, the installation plays with the boundary between reality and fiction – what really exists, and what is merely an illusion? In a park taken over by unpredictable fleas, reality and fantasy come together, inviting visitors to bridge the two with their own imagination.

Studio Toer is a Dutch art and design collective founded by Castor Bours and Wouter Widdershoven. Studio Toer’s approach emphasises playfulness, experimentation and a constant desire to explore new forms of expression. Its works creatively combine art, design and technology and have been exhibited around the world. Before arriving at Path of Light, Flea Circus has appeared at light festivals in cities including Sydney and Shanghai.
